We completed a full house renovation in Vaughan, transforming the property into a modern and elegant living space. The project included the removal of a load-bearing wall to create an open-concept layout, the installation of premium hardwood flooring across the two main stories, and durable vinyl flooring in the basement. We completely remodeled two bathrooms and one powder room, bringing them up to contemporary design standards. The popcorn ceilings were removed, and the first-floor ceilings were replaced with fresh drywall for a clean finish. A stylish fireplace feature was built as a focal point, while the centerpiece of the renovation was an outstanding custom kitchen remodel that combines both beauty and functionality. Additionally, all doors, windows, trims, and baseboards were upgraded to achieve a sleek, cohesive look. Finally, we refreshed the entire home with professional painting, giving the property a bright, updated, and welcoming atmosphere.
Project Challenges
During the renovation, we faced several major challenges. First, the removal of the load-bearing wall revealed unsafe and improper joist work left behind by a previous contractor. This created serious structural concerns. As seen in the gallery pictures, our team corrected this issue by using proper hangers and securely stitching the joists to the new beam, restoring both safety and durability to the structure.
The second challenge came from discovering unprofessional plumbing work from prior contractors. After completing a large portion of drywall finishing, a flood and multiple leaks occurred due to their faulty installation. Our team responded quickly and professionally by providing our in-house plumbing experts to redo the entire plumbing system throughout the home and repair all resulting water damage.
Lastly, the subfloor presented a major issue, as it was full of squeaks and noises. To ensure the new hardwood flooring would sit on a solid and silent foundation, we reinforced the subfloor extensively and installed more than 9,000 screws to eliminate all movement and prevent future creaking. This extra step not only improved comfort and quality but also provided long-term noise control and durability.
